League of Legends and Dota 2 are two of the most popular MOBA games in the world. They are both very similar but there are also some key differences.
1. Map
The map in League of Legends is more compact and there is less travel time between lanes. The map in Dota 2 is more open and there is more travel time between lanes.
2. Runes
Dota 2 has runes that grant characters various buffs, like extra gold, haste or clones. League of Legends, on the other hand, has only two buffs, red and blue, that grant extra damage and mana regen respectively. Runes can be taken instantly, while red and blue buffs can be taken only when you defeat the specific jungle miniboss.
3. Heroes
There are more heroes in Dota 2 than in League of Legends. This makes the game more complex and difficult to learn.
4. Items
There are more items in League of Legends than in Dota 2. This opens more combinations and character builds.
5. Skillshots
League of Legends has more skillshots than Dota 2. Skillshots are shots that require precise timing and aim in order to hit the target. This can make the game more difficult and frustrating for new players. Dota 2, on the other hand, may have less skillshot abilities, but abilities in Dota 2 are overall more complex and flexible.
Differences
All in all, Dota 2 has a higher entry threshold and character flexibility. League of Legends is more open to new players but has less flexible characters and abilities. Both games are great, however.
