Earlier this year, fans experienced a heartbreaking setback when it was announced that Tango Gameworks, a Japanese game development studio, was shut down by its parent company, Microsoft, even after the success of their title, Hi-Fi Rush. Thankfully, the optimism within the gaming community has paid off, as the studio and its creative assets are on track for a resurgence.

In a significant move, Korean publisher Krafton, known for titles like PUBG and The Callisto Protocol, has acquired Tango Gameworks from Microsoft, bringing the studio and its talented workforce back into operation. Alongside this acquisition, Krafton has also secured the rights to the Hi-Fi Rush IP. However, other properties such as The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo will remain under Microsoft’s umbrella, and all Tango Gameworks games will continue to be available on Game Pass. Krafton has expressed its desire to amplify the Hi-Fi Rush IP going forward.

Krafton’s announcement stated their intention to work closely with Xbox and ZeniMax to ensure a seamless transition, enabling the skilled team at Tango Gameworks to not only advance the Hi-Fi Rush franchise but also to embark on new ventures. The commitment to fostering innovation and delivering compelling experiences for fans remains a priority for the studio.

Before Tango Gameworks' closure, Hi-Fi Rush was released on PlayStation 5. There were rumors earlier this year suggesting that a version for Nintendo Switch—or a successor—was also in the works, supported by a PEGI rating noted in April. It’s yet to be seen if Krafton will pursue these rumored plans.

Currently, Hi-Fi Rush is accessible on Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and PC.
