Talk of any community, culture, or religion from all over the world, no wedding is complete without flowers. Be it beautifying the ambience and the décor, or showering the newlyweds with petals, flowers play an important role in any wedding. Initially what used to be simple garlands or rangolis made of assorted petals, have now progressed to intricately woven garlands with a variety of flowers, thoughtfully arranged bouquets, and a careful selection of flowers based on their colour, fragrance and even appearance!
Unusual shapes are a key feature of modern wedding flowers. Rather than neat compact arrangements, florists are turning to natural centrepieces that flow across the table, or grouping simple vases of different heights to add interest. Arranging single stems along the centre of the table produces a dramatic effect as long as they are not spaced too far apart. Florists are looking at the venue as a whole, rather than at individual tables, and trying to create arrangements that direct the eye around the entire room.
Floral centrepieces have always been in the vogue, and have always been appreciated by people from all walks of life. And brides across the ages have always used flowers to be part of their centrepieces, ever since the fashionable trend caught on. Increasingly these days, brides are looking for newer and fresher takes on the concept of floral centrepieces, and are pushing the boundaries of design. A new and extremely popular trend for instance, is putting fresh flowers in purposely decorated jam bottles and jars. You can use some coloured bits of lace or multiple ribbons to embellish a vase so that it looks brand new and beautiful.
